Summer 2016 Real to Reel

New York, NY, USA - April 2, 2015: White painted faces stare out at an African American man as he hurries past a wall covered in graffiti on East 2nd Street off 1st Avenue in the East Village. This whiskey bar closed shop and has been boarded up for a while. It's a natural canvas used by people to paste up advertising fly posters, stick labels, and paint graffiti. Many of the local streets of this low income neighborhood are the focus of graffiti artists.

The Summer 2016 Real to Reel newsletter spotlights stories that include why many abortion clinics close their doors; the remnants of a long-abandoned Army base in Greenland slowly being revealed by melting ice; and a 90-year-old man building a cathedral by hand near Madrid almost entirely by himself.
