Medication abortion care is a safe, FDA-approved, non-invasive option for ending an early pregnancy. It involves taking two different prescribed medications: mifepristone is taken first, and misoprostol is taken 24 to 48 hours later. It has been in use in the U.S. since 2000 and as far back as 1988 in France.
